“It is our prayer that our guests experience the abundant, generous love of God and find their healing and comfort in His care. It is Jesus himself who invites the weary to, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” Our vision, inspired by that invitation, is to create a safe place where people find a deep sense of community with a small group of people who understand their journey so they can ‘drop their packs’ and be comforted by Christ.”

Testimonials

David, Teacher

The Someday Refuge Debrief Retreat was amazing. Everything about this retreat was far more wonderful and helpful than we could have expected… the lodging was 5-star, the meals 5-star, the video teaching was 5-star, and the program (both group and individual discussions) was beyond 5 stars. They listened well, helped us to process pain and burdens well, and pointed us to the One and to discover the truths that brought real healing and freedom! It was truly amazing! Words to express our gratitude fall far short of what could be said.

Amy, Overseas Worker

I have never been to a retreat like Someday Refuge. It was curated to allow time to fully discuss and address the burdens we arrived with! I expected that we would be perhaps a little further along in resolving the issues that we struggled with. However, at the end of the week, my husband and I felt fully freed from some troubling, heavy burdens, were able to make a big decision, and had some tools to help us as we moved forward.
We felt very spoiled! The beauty and comfort of the inn, the natural wonder of God’s creation that we enjoyed on a lovely hike, and the personalized meals, were a lovely part of the whole. The lavish treatment — it seemed to me — reflected the love and kindness of our generous God.

Amy, Overseas Worker

The pace was perfect. Instead of going from session to session, we had time to process deeply. We had time for sleep. We had time for walks and recreation. We had time to sit with the Lord each morning, to talk to Him about our burdens.

Amy, Overseas Worker

The Lapps coached humbly, and gently. They listened. They turned to the Word of God and directed us to the truths of Scripture, where answers could be found.
We were so deeply impacted, and I know that the healing and encouragement we received will greatly impact our work going forward. I think of all the energy and joy and productivity that will overflow from us, as an outcome of this retreat. It seems that, though there were just a few of us there, the depth of healing and renewal will have a great impact on the many people we will interact with, and the dividends will be huge. Jesus ministered this way — deeply, to a few — and then those few multiplied profoundly. I am so very grateful my husband and I could be at one of these retreats.

Lydia, Nurse

Brent and Michelle are wise practitioners of loving-kindness. They gave me a daily refuge in thoughtful conversation and a daily cup (both figurative and literal), fully expecting the Lord to dwell with us and fill the cups to overflowing. I am deeply grateful for the compassion and grace offered to me alongside my grief story, and for the companioning support that made room for me to return more deeply to the Lord’s loving embrace. When I was leaving, I teased that if the week could be summed up in just one word, it would be epic. I am deeply grateful.

Lori, TCK Caregiver

After a very hard season in ministry and health challenges, Someday Refuge Retreat was such a gift! Brent and Michele’s attention to detail, gift of hospitality, and deepening questions all worked together to awakened awareness in me that God desires to bless with His goodness and lavishing love. I left the retreat with a healthy sense of closure for one season of ministry and hope for the next.

Karna, Missionary

The Lord orchestrated our entire experience at the retreat from the moment we heard about it to the finances to being there as the only couple to the theme of the retreat. The Lapps were definitely used by the Lord to speak to us through many different genres but especially through our conversations with them. We truly cherish our new friendship with them!

James, Trainer/Consultant

My wife and I spent five delightful days together at Someday Refuge. Our living space was beyond anything we have experienced and the food was amazing. But much more than that, Brent and Michele were good, confidential listeners as we told our story and thought about our future. It was a chance to put aside our work and focus on personal concerns and we feel better prepared to face what lies ahead.

Matt, Director of Staff

We rested in every way possible, and it was just what our souls needed. What a gift this retreat was! We felt loved on, seen, cared for, and listened to – probably more than we even realized we needed it. We rested in every way possible, and it was just what our souls needed. Can’t recommend it enough, and already wondering when we can get back!

Julie, President

I arrived at the Someday Refuge Retreat completely burned out, not even sure what I truly needed. I arrived at the Someday Refuge Retreat completely burned out, not even sure what I truly needed. Brent and Michelle created such a welcoming, peaceful space that allowed the Lord to meet me in deep rest, renewing my heart with fresh joy for the journey ahead.

Andrea, Assistant Director, Missionary Training Center

One word stands out from our experience with Someday Retreat: Embrace. Embrace the opportunity put your phone down and “get away from it all”, embrace all God has for you, and, if married, embrace the undivided time with your spouse. My husband and I came to the retreat not sure what to expect but knowing God had asked us to be there. The setting was lovely and peaceful, the meals were delicious and healthy, and our hosts, Brent and Michelle, were prayerful and attentive to our needs. We left the retreat feeling refreshed and cared for by our Heavenly Father. So glad we came!

Kristen, AIM SW Assoc Mobilizer & Missionary

I needed this retreat to gain a perspective and heart space. The blend of guided activities and time alone was perfect. I felt like the healthy, abundant food was an important part of the processing at Someday Refuge because what we were doing was such hard work. Our bodies needed the nutrition to process all that we were going through. My eyes rolled back in my head when I bit into the steak. 🙂 I was speechless. I hadn’t tasted decent beef in so long.

Kathleen, Mentor

The retreat with Brent and Michelle provided much-needed rest and restoration for my husband and me. We loved every minute of it, from the delicious food and fellowship to the meaningful times of devotion and reflection. We’re so grateful for the gift that this retreat was for us.
